If this is the future of Guild Wars, count me out. The thing is, while this concept may appeal to the hardcore gamers, it will not appeal at all to the majority of Guild Wars players: the casual ones.
Hell, if I wanted to spend my life playing a MMORPG, I would pay monthly for one.

Please take no offense with this question. Do you consider yourself a casual GW player? I play 1 or 2 hours a night, occasionally 3 and 4-5 hours a day on weekends. My point being I don't consider myself a casual gamer and I don't think casual gamers take the time to post to forums.

How long did it take you to type that post? 30 seconds? 1 minute?
And you aren't forced to, you know, play the game to post on these forums.
On topic, I'll reference a German preview translated on GWO:

Duel with AI gladiators in the norn territory, or play "polymock" against Asura:
Both players are sepparated by a rift, so there are no melee attacks. Instead, you first select one of three creatures with ranged attacks - into which your hero then transforms.
Strains toon e.g. transformed into a flying creature which attackt its opponent (a stone giant) with spells. Like your heroes, these creatures have 8 different skills you have to use in a tactical way. And each of your monsters is especially effective against a certain opponent. So you better choose the right transformation if you want to beat your opponent.

Hook, line, and sinker, IMO.

Why would someone who doesn't play the game and has no knowledge of the game want to post to the forum, other than those who might be going to purchase the game. As for the rest of your post ?????

I'll rephrase: You don't have to have the game on the taskbar in minimize using your computer resources while posting on the forums. As such, your point is irrelevant.

I think another issue is that people would be willing to grind up points for the titles to power these skills if it weren't 5 million points that they had to grind, or if it wasn't 500 hours to do. 500,000 or 1 million points would probably be plenty high enough to keep your average casual player busy for months. However, they can't lower the title cap at all or make it super easy to get points credited to it because that would make all the people who did spend 1000 hours grinding for 10 million points feel pretty gypped that they had to grind their title so much longer than other people would have to. Either way people will be alienated.
Skills tied to 10 million point title = bad idea no matter what they do.

Finally, someone who has taken the time to understand where I am coming from. I'm not too concerned about the skills, honestly, I don't have much use for more than one or two. Call me selfish, but cutting the max title down from 10m was enough already, but even more and I'll be pretty pissed :\. As per the skills - cutting down where the efficiency maxes out down to the r6 area, I would have mo problem with at all. More ranks would be needed to be added in the lower areas though to compensate and make it like the 12 rank attribute point system that we have.

If the max faction title is too high....then so are gladiator and Hero titles...but people still strive to get them. I don't have the patience to get Cartographer, Drunkard, or Lucky title....but I can relate to the desire for the Kurzick titles. Hero titles get an emote....for that matter faction should too...

Furthermore....as has been stressed before....it's an Account title. I know the majority of GW players would pay quite a bit for an account title....seeing r9 Hero being advertised in HA for at least 100+100e. The sunspear and lightbringer titles are insanely easy to acquire, but they are the result of grind. I want a phoenix emote instead of my tiger....but I'm not in the mood to grind for it....just like you aren't in the mood to grind for Champion of the Luxons/Kurzicks

If the developers were thinking this through, because they made the original account-wide title so hard to get, they should have made the power of the faction-based skills very useful at even the lowest ranks.
This way even casual players could get access to effective skills without serious grind. They could then make the max level attainable to only the truly dedicated and only marginally more powerful than the skills at the lower levels. This would give the hard core something to shoot for, but basically keep everyone on an equal playing field.
Unfortunately, Anet chose to, um, well, do exactly that.
